The Print Quote Kit
The PrintPin kit for pricing a 3D print and quoting a paper job from every cost the job really carries, not the one a calculator shows first
PrintPin's 3D Printing Cost Calculator says it about itself: the answer covers filament only, so treat it as a floor, not a full quote. Two of the paper tools never meet either. The Booklet Page Calculator knows a 22-page booklet prints as 24 pages; the Print Cost Calculator prices it as 22. And nothing on the site says when a print shop's setup fee stops mattering. The Print Quote Kit is the rest of the quote. Part 1 takes the calculator's own default, 200 g at $25/kg ($5 of filament), through power, machine-hours, failed prints divided in by the success rate and finishing time to $14.16, then prices it for a fee and a margin taken off the price: $23.60, where tripling the filament loses $0.66 a print after a 10% fee and a 30% markup leaves 13.1%. Part 2 counts a booklet in fours (22 pages: 6 sheets, 2 blanks, $110 as written and $120 as printed on 50 copies), puts every quote in one unit, and finds the crossover run where a shop beats your own printer (93 copies on materials, 33 with your time). Every worked figure is an example computed from the site's own calculators; fees, taxes and market prices are yours to look up, and the kit recommends no printer, filament, shop or marketplace. Included: 24 printable pages with seven steps, a 3D quote sheet, a print log, a booklet job sheet, a preflight card, reference tables and a quickstart, plus a personalised sheet worked on the numbers you entered in the calculator you came from.

What is in it
- The landed gram: every gram on the plate, supports and purge included, at what the spool cost to reach your door
- The machine-hour: power from a plug-in meter, printer depreciation and a wear budget, charged to every print-hour
- Failed prints divided in by your logged success rate, and why adding the failure percentage always comes up short
- A price with the fee and margin taken off it, checked by plugging it back in, beside filament x 3 and a markup
- Booklet pages counted in fours: sheets, blanks, self and plus covers, the saddle-stitch limit and creep
- Every quote in one unit: finished pages, printed pages, sheet sides or sheets, with six questions to ask every shop
- The home-or-shop crossover run, with your own time counted and without
- A 3D quote sheet, a print log for your success rate, a booklet job sheet and a preflight card
- Reference tables: example prints priced end to end, booklet sheets by page count, filament cost at a glance

The kit picks up where the free 3D Printing Cost Calculator leaves off. The calculator prices the filament and says itself that the answer is a floor; the kit adds the power, the machine-hour, the failed prints and your finishing time, then prices the print for a fee and a margin taken off the price. For paper jobs it sets the Booklet Page, Print Cost, Print Bleed and photo resolution tools side by side: pages counted in fours, every quote in one unit, and the run where a shop beats your own printer. The worked figures are examples; fees, tax and market prices are yours to look up. A method, not tax or business advice or a recommendation of any printer, shop or marketplace.
